2023 Australian Cup Carnival

But what you definitely can’t afford to miss is The 2023 Australian Cup Carnival here at The Melbourne Greyhounds – The Meadows.

Presented across three consecutive Saturday Nights, starting February 11, this year’s carnival is set to be an unmissable extravaganza of group racing and sensational entertainment. All three nights have been themed and structured to ensure no one night is less unmissable than the other. Entry to the track on all nights is FREE, as is car parking onsite. Week 1: Saturday February 11th – Kid’s & Family Night + 3 Unmissable Group One Races

The time honoured tradition of making race nights fun for everyone at The Melbourne Greyhounds continues as The Meadows team rolls out the kids welcome mat and we turn the Meadows into a kid friendly play space. Giant inflatables, craft activities, Kelly Sports Area, food and drinks vans, show bags and a huge prize draw will make this evening an unmissable occasion for those seeking family orientated fun and freebies. Race fanatics have also be catered for.

Week one of the 2023 Australian Cup 3 week Carnival showcases three huge invitational Group One Races – The Temlee, Rookie Rebel & Zoom Top. It’ll be group race after group race action, as owners, trainers and their chargers seek to etch them names on some of the sports most prized trophies and become a part of history! More than $400,000 of prize money will be shared.

The Temlee Dining Room City View Bistro will open for a special dining event. Patrons can choose to join us for brilliant next level Group One Race Dining for just $90. Price includes a shared tabled entree, alternate seating signature mains and desserts, as well as a 4 hour beverage package offering premium tap beer, house wines, spirits and soft drinks. Bookings are now open on our City View Bistro online restaurant booking system. Why not get a group together and make a booking. Be sure to be quick, this offer is bound to be very popular.

Those seeking less formal arrangements are welcome to attend the track on the night and partake in all activities and watch the racing. Food and beverages will be available from multiple outlets located around the track.

 

Week 2: Saturday February 18th – Australian Cup Heats + $60 Unmissable Dining

If three Group One races weren’t enough in week one, then week two looks just as unmissable. It’s Australian Cup Heats night, where genuine speedsters will go head to head to earn a place in next weeks famous final and a chance to race for the $300,000 first place winners cheque and prestige of become the latest Australian Cup Winner. Nothing will be left on the track. Plus, race patrons can also witness the heats of the Fanta Bale Super Stayers and marvel at these long distance masters as they look to win a place in next weeks final.

To celebrate week 2 the Temlee Dining Room City View Bistro will again be in full swing. Patrons can choose to enjoy next level dining in for an unmissable $60. This price includes a 3 course set menu, offering shared entrees and dessert platters on each table and the choice of a bistro classic main meal (from a selected menu). It will also include a 4 hour beverage package of tap beer, house wine and soft drink. Bookings are now open on our City View Bistro online restaurant booking system. Week 3: Saturday February 25th – Australian Cup Final + Fanta Bale Super Stayer

The Carnival’s final night is by far the most unmissable from a race perspective. It’s your chance to take in all the action of one of the countries most prestigious Greyhound races – The Australian Cup. First run in 1958, inaugural winner Rookie Rebel (1958), race record holder Brett Lee (2001), back to back winner China Trip (1992-93) and last years winner Lala Kiwi are now forever champions. Along with the chance to see history made, the Fanta Bale Super Stayers will also be run and won.
