Corey Smith’s Wednesday Preview – 8th September

PLEASE NOTE: The TAB Phoenix slot holders are set to be announced on Sunday night from 7.30pm on The Meadows’ Facebook page and via www.thephoenix.melbourne

Race 1:
MY ENVY (3) is stepping up to this middle distance for the first time but looks built for it, the smaller field will also suit and looks to have the most upside in the race. FLY TO VICTORY (7) has impressed at his last two runs at Cranbourne. MARS ROVER (4) could lead but may get tired late. MYSTERY TALENT (6) next.

Selections: 3-7-4-6

Race 2:
JIGGLYPUFF (7) has plenty of upside and should be breaking her maiden shortly. SUNSTRUCK (1) has faced much harder company than this while SHANLYN HUNTER (2) was impressive last start. PANDORICA (5) has had plenty of chances but should figure in exotics calculations.

Selections: 7-1-2-5

Race 3:
First starters are always hard to assess but of the raced brigade, WIZARDRY THINGS (8) was well fancied in the recent Vic bred Series final and is knocking on the door for a win. SIR CHAPPY (2) has raced well at Sandown previously and should be in your numbers. FOXY BOURBSKI (7) is well bred and is improving. I am keeping DARNUM DESTROYER (1) safe from the draw.

Selections: 8-2-7-1

Race 4:
BLAZING FURY (1) is well drawn and in winning form. MAJOR BOURBSKI (7) is down on her best form and I would prefer if she was drawn on the inside but has won here six times in the past. CHILL OUT WEBBY (4) is a well-placed veteran and GEMMA BLUE (6) should appreciate the class drop.

Selections: 1-7-4-6

Race 5:
MEPUNGA SPARKLE (2) is talented and was a decent run last week. EMANI BALE (3) is racing well while ACCUSED (8) should be much better for the go at the distance last start. EMERGENCY (1) the best of the rest.

Selections: 2-3-8-1

Race 6:
LEKTRA JENA (7) looks the likely leader, INDY GHOST (8) will get a nice cart across, and this is a drop in class. CODE BLUE SUE (2) & TRENDY UNIVERSE (1) are both talented.

Selections: 7-8-2-1

Race 7:
DRAKO BALE (8) has a good record from the draw and at this track/distance. ARATUZA BALE (4) has a good PB and is better than recent form. RADEK BALE (2) is super talented and is rarely out of top grade. MY FATHER’S SON (6) will be there if others fail.

Selections: 8-4-2-6

Race 8
:
FRACTURED (7) is overdue for a win and can run the hands off the clock when on the arm. PROVIDENCE BALE (1) loves this box. JAX BALE (2) is likely to be a short favourite and BOUNCE BACK (4) is a very talented middle-distance chaser.

Selections: 7-1-2-4

Race 9:
AMERICANO MISS (4) has plenty of upside and should lead on previous Meadows form. BEN MAYO (8) was super impressive on debut at Warragul before running into a good one at Shepparton. FUNKY FELIX (2) & TRENDING POWER (6) are musts in the exotics.

Selections: 4-8-2-6

Race 10:
DARNUM DIVA (8) was super here last start and will only improve. CALIX BALE (2) is much more talented than his record suggests but will need luck. INDY FIDO (4) came through the hot VIC Bred Maiden series before being a dominant winner at Ballarat last start. ZIPPY TESLA (7) will be running home strongly.

Selections: 8-2-4-7

Race 11:
KANJI HEIGHT (1) finds a winnable race with the big danger PALESA BALE (8) likely to be caught wide. SIR CHAMP (4) has a big motor and the smaller field suits but will still need lick. MCIVOR RUSTY (2) next.

Selections: 1-8-4-2

Race 12:
TAI PAN AGOGO (3) hasn’t had much luck at lesser distances but back up to the 525m will suit. TRENDING QUARTER (8) is not well drawn but is arguably the most talented dog in the race. LITTLE TIGER (1) has been impressive over the shorter courses recently. UPRIGHT (4) is not without a chance.

Selections: 3-8-1-4

Best Bet: R2 N7 – Jigglypuff
Next Best: R1 N3 – My Envy

QUADDIE ($60 for 50%):
R5 – 2, 3
R6 – 1, 2, 7, 8
R7 – 2, 4, 6, 7, 8
R8 – 1, 2, 7
