Hopefully the long wait will be worth it for Rodney Clark on Friday.
The Toolleen trainer has three winning propositions at The Meadows on Friday night, but they will take their places in the last three races on the program.
In Race 10, Sonny Daze will jump from Box 2. He made his track debut at The Meadows last week, when he finished fourth in 30.53, but he didn’t get all favours in transit.
“It was actually my other dog, Impress Shades, who took him out on the first turn last week!” says Clark.
“This is a harder field, but he’s boxed really nicely, and he’s a really genuine dog, and a fast little dog on his night too.
“He should be much better for the run last week – he’s pulled up fantastic, and has been chomping at the bit to go again.”
Last-start winner Aston Zephyr has drawn Box 3 in Race 11. She began well at Horsham on Tuesday off Box 8, and worked home strongly to score in BON 27.61.
“She’s fantastic. She’s coming back from two broken metacarpals, and she’s come back really well. She’s enjoying racing, and doesn’t want to stay home in the kennel!
“I’m glad she’s repaired well, but Friday night is a bit tougher for her – I’m not totally sure how she’ll handle the two turns, but she’s very strong, and prior to hurting herself she had a superb record. Hopefully that run on Tuesday has really give her some wind, and she’ll like the box as well.”
Impress Shades wraps Clark’s chances in Race 12, and the son of Fernando Bale and Effective Comet has the benefit of Box 1. He tried hard when second here last week in 30.18, and prior to that, dug deep to score at Horsham in 27.45.
“He’s a genuine chance, and we all love Box 1 at The Meadows! He’s an up-and-comer, a really nice little dog, and he’s just starting to find himself now.
“If I had to pick, Impress Shades is my best bet of the night. Hopefully we might take a little bit of money home on Friday night!”
