Devastated by the loss of life, livelihood, and property caused by the ongoing bushfire crisis, the Directors at the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (MGRA) have stepped in to offer their assistance.
Chairman Eddie Caruana has tonight announced that the MGRA will make a $10,000 donation towards bushfire fundraising efforts, commenting on what an easy decision it was for his board to make.
‘It is impossible to fathom the terrifying scenarios unfolding around our great country at the moment and it was important to us that our Club is able to make a contribution.
It is humbling to once again see the greyhound racing community banding together to support those in need.
We are lucky as a Club to have the support of participants and greyhound racing fans from all around Australia, and this is the least we could do to show our appreciation to the people and communities who now find themselves in dire need of assistance.’
The $10,000 donation comes off the back of the announcement from Greyhound Racing Victoria that they will contribute $250 for every ‘red dog’ that wins in Victoria throughout the month of January.
