Patty sets time standard in Maturity heats

The brilliant Dyna Patty staked her claim as the greyhound to beat in this year’s Group 1 Maturity series after a brilliant 29.73 heat win – the fastest time set among the 12 qualifiers over the 525-metre trip on Saturday night.

The daughter of Fernando Bale and Unix Bale began beautifully off box eight, recording super splits of 5.04 and 17.65, holding off Ella Enchanted by three quarters of a length, who was also incredible in defeat. Dyna Patty has built up an imposing record at the Broadmeadows circuit, recording her ninth win at the track to progress to next week’s semi-finals.

Training duo Jamie and Brooke Ennis enjoyed a great night with their chasers, winning the first two heats with Barooga Brett (29.88) and Tritt Tritt, who ran down race favourite Black Forge in 29.91. The Lara trainers also got Belt Up Bubbs and Ella Enchanted through to the semi-final stage after finishing third and second in their respective heats.

Trainer Andrea Dailly celebrated a treble after Dyna Patty, Dyna Zesty and Aeroplane Indy scored, with the latter upsetting My Redeemer – one of the pre-race favourites to take out the the big final on July 28.

The training team of Angela Langton and Jeff Britton also chimed in with a double after race favourite Hasten Slowly powered home to score in 30.11, while Wise Piquet won the last of the 12 heats in 30.04.

Other heat winners included Orson Allen (29.90), Aston Duke (30.21), Italian Plastic (30.47), Benali (29.97) and Chief’s Empire (29.97).

The winners, seconds and eight fastest thirds have progressed to next Saturday’s semi finals, with the top two next week progressing to July 28′s $145,000 final.
