Jezza hard to beat

Group 1 Temlee and Group 1 Melbourne Cup runner-up Jesaulenko returns to The Meaodws on Saturday night after a devastating 24.88 win at Warrnambool last week.

The son of Irish sire College Causeway and Elite Fairy is in fantastic form and will be hard to beat in the first leg of Saturday’s quaddie, which kicks off at 8.38pm. The black chaser – a winner of 30 of his 65 race starts – takes on the well-drawn Mysterize (box one) and the highly-talented Mystery Ride (box five), who has a brilliant 29.75PB over the 525-metre trip.

Race six will see boom youngster Jimmy Newob (box eight) look to continue his fantastic recent form. In his last two starts, the son of Cosmic Rumble and Nosey Rozy has equalled Fernando Bale’s 425-metre track record at Bendigo before stopping the clock at 29.84 at The Meadows on debut last week.

Bulldog fans will be looking to place an omen bet as Bont’s Magic – named after Western Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli – will jump from box one in the first race of the program.
