Harlon the one to beat in $145k Silver Chief final

The Michael Fearnley-trained Harlon looks the greyhound to beat in Saturday’s Group 1 AJS Corp Silver Chief after drawing box one in the $100,000-to-the-winner final.

The son of Dyna Lachlan and Emmy’s Belle was the fastest semi-final winner on the weekend, leading all the way to score in 30.08, and again looks hard to beat after drawing the coveted red box in the first Group 1 final for 2016.

Other semi final winners included My Silver Chisel (30.15), Invictus Rapid (30.12) and Ernest Bale, who stormed to victory to score in 30.24.

Trainer Jason Thompson will be looking to win his sixth Group 1 Silver Chief with three of his greyhounds qualifying for Saturday’s final, including Invictus Rapid (box four), Aeroplane Bob (box seven) and Moreira (box five). Thompson won his first Silver Chief with Light Of Fire back in 1994.

A huge night is planned for The Meadows for the final (Saturday, January 2), with fantastic family entertainment, including a kids movie (BigHero6) on the big screen, a Katy Perry Tribute performance, Tim The Magician and lots of great prizes and giveaways. Click here for more information.
