The Meadows lights up this Saturday night for 12 races once again with the first bouncing at 7.18pm.
The punting begins in the second race of the night with SOMEDAY LADY who’s drawn perfectly in box one. The Rounds trained sprinter has already established a good record (12 starts 6-1-2) and I think she can continue her impressive start to her career after a strong placing at the venue last outing (RaceVideo).
Some of the nations best stayers will clash in the three heats of the Topcat Video Cup. I think the seasoned staying campaigner MEPUNGA TIARA should prove too good in the first heat after an impressive 42.24 secs win at Sydney’s Wentworth Park two starts back. Drawn the fence she should control the race from the front and after her last start second placing in the G3 Chairman’s Cup, she will be ready to fire.
BEKS has barely put a paw wrong of late and this handy stayer appears a massive chance to land another win on Saturday night. There’s no doubt he will need to go to the next level to beat the likes of LADY TOY, but I am confident he can.
QUARREL BALE has really found his feet of late with two impressive wins in a row. The first of those was a speedy 34.48 secs (RaceVideo) here over the 600m, followed by a fast 29.46 secs win at Sandown Park (RaceVideo) and he now looks set to produce the hattrick. I feel this chaser is much better suited over the 600m as he gets a chance to sight the lure and is more likely to gain a soft uncontested lead.
The lucky last is set down for decision at 11.07pm and I believe BUCKY BOY and TAKE THE CROWN could fight the race out. Both coming off good form lines, the run to the first bend will be vital for both.
Good luck and happy punting for what looks a very good meeting.
