The Meadows Preview: Lucy, Utopia, Weston East among Best Bets

Saturday night metro racing comes from The Meadows and once again we begin the night with a handicap for the stayers at 7.15pm.

Shanlyn Lucy searches for three straight wins after smart performances including a 725m handicap win here two starts ago (Replay). Drawn well near the fence, she should be able to control the race with Shall She Rock and Callum’s Mum genuine dangers.

The youngsters clash in the fourth race of the night in the maiden Vic Breeders final, which looks to be a potential birth place for a future star.

Once again Weston East draws really well as he lines up from the red alley in the 600m grade five final. He seems to find a better place in the middle distance races and from the inside he looks set to produce another race winning performance on Saturday night. He’ll only need to reproduce a similar run to his 34.64 heat win (Replay) to come away with the victory in this event.

Despite ending up clearly beaten in the recent Cranbourne Puppy Classic, Lektra Utopia (pictured) appears a massive chance to bounce back into the winner’s list. After showing terrific early speed in his past two, especially his 30.15 Cranbourne win two starts ago (Replay), he looks set to run a massive race here. With the wire-running kennel mate Lektra Concord on his outside, he looks set to receive a nice clean run to the first bend, which should eventuate into a handy victory.

The ninth on the program is another of the features with the grade five final worth over $9,000 to the winner from heats conducted at last week’s mid week Meadows meeting. Racing is set to finish up at 10.53pm so good luck and happy punting folks!
