Group 1 racing heads to The Meadows this Saturday night with the final of age restricted Hudson Pacific ‘Maturity’ as the feature along with the ‘Destini Fireball Stayers’ special event.
The first on a bumper night of greyhound racing is set to kick off at 7.15pm, while the meeting also includes a $20,000 Jackpot Quaddie which starts with Race 5 at 8.38pm.
Once again it’s a few of the usual suspects who we will be expecting to win with Lady Toy and Fernando Bale both drawing well in box two for their respective finals. Starting with Lady Toy, she appears to now be in career best form after a brilliant win in the Group 2 ‘McKenna Memorial’ two starts back (Replay) from box three. She then drew the rails in her heat and after positioning in the top half of the field early, she was able to sweep home an easy five and a half length winner (Replay) making her the one the beat in $29,000 final.
The greyhound that’s blown the greyhound industry away in the past few months has been Fernando Bale and, after a hick up early in his run last week which in turn bought his fabulous winning streak to an end, the super star of the game looks set to bounce back to the winners stall in the Group 1 Maturity from the ideal box. Many punters are tipping Dyna Double One to play a massive part on Saturday night as his record speaks for itself around The Meadows, but I’m also keen on the chances of the recent Horsham Cup winner Margins (Replay). Drawn sweetly in the red, the Brooke Ennis trained chaser should rail his way into the action and appears a sensational place bet at worst in the $100,000 to the winner, Group 1 ‘Hudson Pacific’ Maturity.
The racing looks set to be dynamic all night and I’ve come across a few outside of the big races that could be worth a watch.
Mepunga Tiara drops in class and draws beautifully in the seventh on the program from box one, and no doubt she’ll be extremely hard to beat.
Later on in the program I’m super keen on Alpha Zeus, who can posses a terrific turn of foot and from the inside alley should run a massive race. Two starts ago he was third to Dyna Double One and that form should stack up really well here (Replay).
That wraps up the preview for the massive night of chasing at The Meadows this Saturday night. Good luck and happy punting.
