The Meadows Preview: Good Reason to Punt

The lights shine brightly over The Meadows this Saturday night with a terrific card of metro greyhound racing with juicy ‘BIG 6’ jackpot on offer for punters.

The racing gets underway with a restricted win event over the 525m. I’m super keen on Mepunga Rosie who produced some fast wins early in her career at Sandown Park including a 29.46 win four runs ago (Replay). The Jeff Britton prepared chaser looks extremely hard to hold out if she receives a unimpeded run in the early part.

The recent Sandown Park winner Trace Amount appears perfectly graded in the 600m restricted win event. Carrying winning form and a large class drop, Trace Amount will run a short favourite and should be winning easily. With no early speed in the event, I expect a soft lead and the daughter of Fabregas seems to do her best racing when she spots the lure in the early section of her races.

With some super competitive racing set down for decision, I thought Rumero Reason (pictured) would prove hard to beat in the seventh. Bad box draws don’t bother this chaser as he usually misses the start and looks to rail home with strength. At around 5 to 1 he appears a terrific each way chance given he can reproduce his performance when winning five starts ago.(Replay)

If you’re looking for a value bet, go no further then Quantum Bale in the free for all. With the aid of the inside draw he looks a genuine chance after a strong placing at the venue last week (Replay). Boasting a 29.99 P.B, the son of Dyna Tron must leave the first bend in the top four to trouble the scorers but I’m quietly confident he can.

With a large jackpot on the ‘Big 6’ I’d be looking to play relatively wide as the racing does appear very competitive on paper. None the less it’s good luck and happy punting once again.
