Group 1 Silver Chief kicks off this Saturday!

The $145,000 Group 1 AJS Corporation Silver Chief (525m) kicks off this Saturday night with the first of a three-week series at The Meadows.

Australia’s best young male sprinters will line up in 10 heats this weekend, with winners, second and third placegetters and the two fastest fourths progressing to the semi-final stage on December 27.

The final on January 3  - worth $100,000 to the winner – is the first Group 1 event to be run and won in 2015.

Some of the highlights from Saturday night’s heats include:

Heat two: Lightly raced guns Tiggerlong Await (box six), Weston East (box one) and Dawkins Bale (box eight) look to continue the great starts to their career.

Heat four: Melbourne Cup and Hobart Thousand finalist Above All has drawn perfectly in box one against the speedy Droopys Bentley (box six) and classy NSW raider Bad Boy Sniper (box two).
