Young gun Tommy Brislane is out of Topgun contention after it was found the greyhound had sustained a stopper bone injury.
The son of Premier Fantasy and Mary Virginia will miss at least four months of racing, according to owner Geoff Slattery.
“We are devastated with the news. He has a small chip in his stopper bone and will take at least four months before we will see him on the track again if his recovery goes well. He will temporarily stand at stud with Kel Greenough during his layoff, and hopefully we see him on the racetrack again.”
“The beauty is that he only just turned two a fortnight ago, so he will still be at the peak of his powers when he returns.”
Tommy Brislane notched up the impressive record of 12 wins from just 16 starts, including victory in the Group 1 Megastars at Dapto and the Group 2 Bob Payne at Wentworth Park at his last race start.
The field for this year’s Group 1 Sky Racing TOPGUN will be announced on Sky Racing’s The Catching Pen (Sky 2) at 6.30pm tonight.
