Stars set to clash in Group 3 Topcat Video Final

The country’s best stayers will clash in this Saturday’s night’s $36,000 Group 3 Topcat Video Cup over 725 metres at The Meadows.

Old foes Xylia Allen and Sweet It Is will renew their rivalries, yet this time they will have to contend with Dyna Willow and Zipping Maggie, two greyhounds who strode to impressive heat wins last weekend.

Zipping Maggie – now on a six-race winning streak – gave champ Xylia Allen a start and a beating in the first of the heats, stopping the clock at a moderate 43.07. The daughter of Turanza Bale and Natalie Rass is one of two chasers engaged for the Hallinan/Dapiran duo, with Zipping Rory (box two) also lining up in next weekend’s final.

Group-winning chaser Dyna Willow ended a recent run of outs to return to her best, powering away to win her heat in a fast 42.57, ahead of the fast-finishing Sweet It Is. The Steve Collins-trained chaser has drawn favourably in box one, already a winner of three races off the cherry trap.

Xylia Allen – whose prizemoney would push past $765,000 if victorious on Saturday – will have to contend with the awkward draw of five, while the Darren McDonald-trained Sweet It Is will start from box six.

Next Saturday’s Group 3 winner will pocket $25,000.

Group racing will contiue at The Meadows next month with the running of the Group 1 TOPGUN on October 25.
